Hare there...

and everywhere!
Warren photographed this wild hare up at Whistler. You can see that it's changing colour from its winter white to brown.

Arcade Fire

Went and saw Arcade Fire at Deer Lake in Burnaby tonight. What an amazing show. These people are true musicians... they put everything they've got into putting on a great show.
It's an outdoor venue, and thankfully the weather was beautiful today... it was a good nght!
Check out their website... it's one of the coolest I've seen...

I love graffiti

I discovered a new piece of graffiti on my way home from work the other day, and it just delighted me!
I have no idea what it says in the sign, hopefully it's not anything too offensive, but the gnome just gave me a good chuckle... if anyone has any idea's of what he's trying to say, will you let me know?

Is summer here yet??????

This was a couple of summer's ago on a trip up to Naramata, B.C. wine country. It is so beautiful up there, and everywhere you go they give you free wine to try! It is PURE heaven! This was at one of my very favourites, Elephant Island. They make the most delicious fruit wine, and they use the fruit from their own orchard. Henry wasn't very happy that he wasn't allowed in, but he survived. See the link below to check out the winery for yourself.

I heart my hometown!

This is the fountain in front of the art gallery. It has some beautiful mosaic work that just sparkles in the sun. Not that we've SEEN much of the sun this year, but summer is upon us, and the May long weekend! And yes, the forecast says..............................Rain.

2010 Clock

It's the 2010 Vancouver Olympic countdown clock. And it has 24 hour security, or else protectors will hurt it, deface it, basically just try and destroy it. I'm going to have to go somewhere far, far away when the time arrives, that's for SURE!

Ghandi

er... Ben Kingsley that is! Yesterday Warren and I had a lovely day at the Art Gallery, then saw a movie being filmed out front (it's a favourite "fake" NYC spot) and happened to see Ben Kingsley being filmed walking across the street. It was a pretty good fake version of a NYC street, complete with Pretzel stand, knock-off handbag peddlers and Yellow Cabs. Oh yeah, and the Hasidic Jewish men strolling around. That's me standing under the signpost that normally has Vancouver landmarks on it... who knew we had our very OWN Empire State building???

George Carlin

is my hero. We went and saw him perform on Saturday night at the River Rock Casino (whoohoo!)
He's so irreverent, but frankly, he tells the truth. He was doing mostly new material, but in the same vein as his usual style, ranting about religion, the way kids are being brought up today, a tax on fat people, and very dirty, very politically incorrect jokes.
You either love him, or you hate him... Love love love!

The boy and his ball

Usually when I get home, I sit down on the couch for a little R&R, and within seconds, I have this face in my face, with a bright pink ball in his mouth. I made the mistake of throwing him the ball one day when we got home from work, he's never forgotten it, and it's now become his routine.
The other day I threw it for a good hour of American Idol (YES, I watch it!) and finally I just looked at him and said, "I am so done with that ball" and he shot me a look, picked it up and took it to his basket. I swear, he's almost human....

Before and After

We just re-tiled the kitchen backsplash, and I can't believe what an incredibly, massively, HUGE difference it made! Granted, in the first photo we don't have our stuff out, but even still, it looks so much better now...so happy with it!

Steveston

These pictures were taken a couple of years ago out in Steveston, about 1/2 hour outside of Vancouver. You can ride your bike for ages along the dike, all through Delta into Richmond. The path takes you beside people's back yards, and at one point you come across an old (still existing) farm, with cows grazing in the field beside the delta.

Hibiscus

Our Hibiscus is finally starting to bud again. Almost all of its leaves fell off over the winter, and we had to bring it inside. We didn't know we'd have to bring it inside, but I guess it IS a tropical plant after all! It will redeem itself if it flowers like this again. If not, it may go to a new home...

The Meaning of Contentment

We were at the dog park today, and an elderly man said to me, "Wow, you can really see the joy on that dog's face." THAT DOG would be THIS dog. And it's true. I say that to Warren almost every time we're at the DP (we've had to start calling it that, "dog park" provokes much whining!)
That's what I love about dogs. they truly do live in the moment. We could all take a lesson from that!

The "Wet" Coast and one cute dog

This was last summer, camping up near Squamish. This is such a beautiful river, we saw some people river rafting down... looked pretty hairy. Never done that myself, maybe THIS summer!

Friendly Monsters

These are some new needle felted monsters. I'm truly addicted to this new craft... it is so much fun! Warren is a little concerned that we're going to be over run with these guys in our small apartment, but I'm sure they'll all eventually find new homes!

Mountain Boy

And people think little dogs can't do what big dogs do... This is Henry last summer on top of Hollyburn Mountain. He gets the funniest looks from the big dog people when we're hiking. He loves it, and he must go 3 times the distance we do, because he runs ahead, then runs back and looks at us like, "hurry up slowpokes!". I try to keep him fairly close though, becasue we are in bear (and cougar!) country, and he'd make a nice, light snack I'm sure.

A few good dogs...

Warren often takes photos of the dogs in the houses that he inspects. These are a few of my faves...
