New ACEO's

I was feeling creative last night. I had a custom order to do, and it forced me to get off my new laptop for a couple of hours, which was great! I'm making up for lost time in having to fight to get on a computer... now I finally have my very own!

New art and new blog!

I have a new(ish) blog that I'm posting a new artist and their work every day. I am so inspired by other people and their journey's in art, and I love to share my discoveries with the world, so check it out! The Paper Place Contest!

So there is this great shop in Toronto that has the BEST selection of Japanese Chiyogami papers I've ever seen. They are having this contest where you can win a sample of every Chiyogami paper they have! Now, I've already spent a lot of money buying all the papers i like, but I'm sure there's a lot I haven't seen yet. I WANT TO WIN THIS CONTEST! By posting it on my blog I receive 5 entries, so wish me luck!

Anonymous Art Show

W, I participated in the Anonymous Art Show at the North Vancouver Arts Council again this year and this is the piece I sold! It's such a neat concept... it's a fund raiser for art programs and the artist gets half the proceeds as well, so that's a big fifty bucks coming my way!

New Collage Stuff!

These fridge magnets are my newest babies... I'm quite liking them, actually! I found some superly strong small magnets from another Etsy seller, and mount them on Lino samples... Shhh! Don't tell Home Depot!

New Collage

Here are a couple of my newest pieces. You can find them in my Etsy shop, along with my cards and ACEO's. I'm looking forward to going to Toronto soon. My VERY favourite paper shop is there, The Paper Place. That's where I get my Japanese Chiyogami paper. They have an entire wall of it, there's probably 200 styles to choose from, AND you can get a 1/4, 1/2 or full sheet. It's heaven!

Black Sheep Yarns

This is my most recent Etsy purchase from Black Sheep Yarns. Now, I've had some things come to me from Etsy sellers that is packaged beautifully, but this one topped them all! It felt like it was my birthday! And the papers were even better than I expected. Thank you Black Sheep, I'll definitely be buying from you again!

These beautiful old ledger pages are from 1897, and are just gorgeous! If you look at my collage below you'll see how I use them. The old yellowed book pages were just a bonus! Thanks, I LOVE them!


This collage doesn't use the actual ledger papers I bought, but a very similar one from France. I'll be putting Black Sheep's into the mix very soon!

My newest art...

Here is some of the new stuff I've been working on. I'm doing some small collages for framing as well as the cards and ACEO's. Next up... pendants and fridge magnets...

These are my newest babies... For the first time in a while... I've made something I really, really like! I love paper so much, and have been collecting it for so long (years!) and finally have a fun way to use it. I have enough cards to last me a lifetime, mind you... but hopefully I'll sell a few here and there. They're in my Etsy shop, so if you need a card, you know where to go!

Apple Version 3

Mango

Here is a little 4x6 painting I did of a mango. It started off *quite* disastrously, but I let it dry for a few days, then re-worked it and I think it turned out alright in the end. I still need to do some work on the background, but the mango itself is DONE!

An apple a day...

This is a 4x6 oil painting I'm working on. Now that I've worked on it a little more, I can see how unfinished the first one looks. It's not finished yet, but I'll wait until next week to look at it with a fresh eye.

Here is painting #2. I'm really enjoying this class, and learning so much! I can't wait to start #3 next week!

Oil Painting Class

I'm taking an oil painting class. I was so inspired after seeing all the galleries in Scottsdale, that I finally decided to bite the bullet and just do it! Yes, I've been to art school, but I only did 2 years and never really took a painting class. Go figure.
The first painting is after our first class. The second is the finished painting, done in our second class. We'll be doing flowers next week, I can't wait! I'm no Leonardo da Vinci yet, but you have to start somewhere!

Creative frenzy!

I haven't posted any art for a loooooooong time! I've had a very creative couple of days. I haven't touched an art supply for probably over 3 months. No inspiration. I did start an oil painting class last Thursday though, so maybe doing that cleaned out the cobwebs in my head.

Friendly Monsters

These are some new needle felted monsters. I'm truly addicted to this new craft... it is so much fun! Warren is a little concerned that we're going to be over run with these guys in our small apartment, but I'm sure they'll all eventually find new homes!
